Here at RAW we believe that every special occasion, every sports event, every breakfast needs to start with a glass of bubbles. Because why the hell not? Our regulars might recognise some these labels already since they’ve been requested for quite some time. Liquid trouble of the best kind!
In this Box you will get:
Laherte Frères Ultradition NV
This is 60% Pinot Meunier, 30% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Noir. A richer style of Champagne where the use of wood enhances the body and minimally influences the aromatics. On the nose beeswax, fermenting apples, citrus peel. Not really a terroir-driven Champagne, more of a very well-made one that will benefit a lot from aging. Great food wine as well.
Alexandre Giquel Mecanique des Fluides 2020
A sparkling Chenin Blanc aged 3 years on lees. Vineyard work done purely using a horse plough. Bright, lightly savoury, green apple, chamomile. It’s kind of juicy, a bit wild, a little bit creamy, but with zippy acidity and a lively green apple and citrus finish of good length. Structured and nicely done in its style.
Unico Zelo Sea Foam 2022
Sea Foam is as salty yet refreshing as ever made from 100% Vermentino. Notes of nashi pear, green apple, nectarine, frangipani, and a whiff of grassy freshness. Sea Foam is as close to the pure distillation of spring that Unico has ever released. Vibrant style, crunchy and vigorous in bubbles, mouthwatering finish. Brilliant.
Das Juice Pet Nat 2022
This is 100% Glera from the Alpine Valleys, South Australia. The grapes were cold soaked for two days to build texture and then were pressed, fermented dry in tank and kept on full solids for three months. A small portion of juice was frozen and added back to the blend prior to bottling. It is full of texture with a lovely crisp pear note and heaps of citrus. Fresh and summery.
Borachio Sister Act Sparkling 2021
Sparkling Shiraz made not in a cloying, sweet way, but in a refreshing, zingy style. Tightly wound, compact feel. Grippy with fine, silty tannins and lashed with some baking spice and green herbs. Bit more savouriness on the palate with dark cherry and blackberry in focus. It stretches luxuriously and with an authority. Seriously good.
Belly Wine Experiment La Pinya 2021
This is made from Xarel-lo & Macabeu. Attractive perfume with rich, stone fruit scents, some limey characters, dried apples and a touch of patisserie and brioche. The same notes appear on the palate - a little creamy, a touch of youghurty sour-tang in a pleasing sense. Finishes creamy and with cool, fine bubbles. Nice drinking in a fuller, textural style.
