Catalunya has a distinguished tradition of winemaking. Viticulture is thought to have been introduced by the Phoenicians and the Greeks around 400 B.C. It’s regarded to be super distinct from Spain's other wine regions because of the versatility of its wine styles. There is a strong French influence on two of its most recognizable wines, the Champagne-style sparkling Cava and its red table wines, which have similar characteristics to those produced in Roussillon, just the other side of the Pyrenees.

Artesano Vintners Benjamina 2021
Pet-nats are sparklers that allow the initial fermentation to finish in the bottle, without adding yeast and sugar. Benjamina is a blend of Xarel-lo and Parellada, grapes usually used in the production of Cava. Marked with sweet grapefruit, lemon rind, beeswax. Silky fizz, intense flavors. Goes down like a charm.
Celler Comunica Foxy Lady 2021
With more depth, tannin and acidity than your average rosé, it may be worth considering this as a light red. The grapes were directly pressed, and half saw 18-hours of skin contact, giving it a gorgeous deep pink hue. Foxy Lady, a nod to the iconic Jimi Hendrix song, is an unconventionally delicious wine with notes of strawberry, fresh cut watermelon, grapefruit, cinnamon and pepper.
Cosmic Vinyaters Via Fora 2021
All Sumoll. A vibrant and expressive red wine. On the nose, it displays bright aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and a touch of earthiness. The wine is juicy and fresh with lively acidity and supple tannins that lead to a smooth finish. Fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks and aged in old oak barrels for a few months to add complexity and texture.
Escoda Sanahuja Mas del Gaio 2019
A blend of Parellada (50%), Garnacha Blanca (25%) and Macabeu (25%) - all coming from clay-calcareous soils. Macerated on skins for 10 days, then aged in amphora for 8 months. Herbal and zesty to start. Green papaya, raw ginger, green apple and salt. It’s chewy, with raw and salty elements to it. Well-made fuller style of a skin-contact wine.
La Salada Roig Boig Tranquil 2021
Biodynamic. Sumoll, Roigenc, Mandó, Cannonnau, Parellada and Xarel-lo. The vineyard was planted in 2006 with these ancient Catalan grapes on calcareous clay soil. Direct press on 90% of the grapes, the other 10% is minimally macerated for 4 months. Fermented and aged in stainless steel. Light and breezy.
Partida Creus XL 2018
This joyously alive white is made from 100% Xarel-lo, from old vines on clay-limestone soils farmed organically. White Japanese peaches with thyme and passiflora, pandan leaf and lime zest with brioche crust. An expressive and delightful Xarel-lo, leaning deeply into the tonic water fruity-bitterness and saline elements that great Xarel-lo can deliver.
