This box is like a playlist of the coolest, most out-there red wines that are all about mixing up the old with the new. If you fancy the freshness of a white wine, but want a bit more structure, go for liminal reds. They’re perfect if you are after a good time without choosing sides.
In this Box you will get:
Manon Forest Red 2022
This beautiful blend was made by macerating berries of Pinot Gris in the fermenting juice of a direct press of Pinot Noir for ten days, before being pressed off to old barrels for a year. This is the most incredibly bright cherry red, with refreshing bittersweet flavours of wild strawberry and minerality that offers refreshment in spades.
Latta Fresca 2021
This vibrant and lively Sangiovese embodies the distinctive qualities associated with Latta: a delightful lightness, succulent juiciness, and an intensity of flavor taken to the highest level. Harvested from organically cultivated vineyards in Shay's Flat, the grapes were carefully picked at an early stage to enhance acidity and preserve the utmost freshness.
Mélange Rouge 2022
Hand-harvested and 95% destemmed on top of a whole-bunch component, this wine was fermented wild on skins for 12 days. It was then left to age for five months in French oak before being assembled and left to settle in stainless steel for a month. Bright cherries slide across the palate. Easy breezy.
Unico Zelo Delta Blue 2022
Delta Blue is a blend of Touriga Nacional, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. With that in mind, do not expect this to be a big old bold wine with a body like a semi-trailer - this is still a classic Unico Zelo wine with freshness, and that juicy core, but backed up by a lovely, subtle suede tannin. Big blueberry, raspberry, and blackcurrant vibes.
Bodegas Moraza 'Moraza' Garnacha 2019
An organic Garnacha, no oak, fresh, elegant and rich, yet fruity and very approachable. An ideal partner to lamb. Moraza are in the Rioja Alta, north of the Ebro River with vineyards on a south exposition. Vineyards are between 450 m and 650 m with clay and limestone soils. The unoaked Garnacha or Grenache is drinking beautifully now, but could be saved for a few years if you want to.
Poppelvej Rookie 2022
Grenache! This is 100% whole-bunch but with very gentle extraction. Big perfume, sweet cinnamon and redcurrants, brambly blackberry with dried herbs, something a bit ferrous and bloody too. Fleshy texture but very light and pretty to taste. Shows splashes of mixed forest berry, more sweet cinnamon spice.
